FIREFIGHTERS from across Cornwall and Plymouth have been working through the night to contain a major blaze in Landulph, near Saltash.

In the early hours of this morning, Saltash and Callington fire crews were called to reports of a kitchen fire in Landulph. On their arrival the two-storey house was well alight, and by 4.45am, 10 fire engines and crew, including the aerial ladder platform from Crownhill, Plymouth, the incident command unit from Launceston, and operational support vehicle from St Austell, had been mobilised to help.

Crews used a high volume pump, jets, and compressed air foam to tackle the blaze.

“Crews attacked the fire from multiple locations and breathing apparatus teams were also committed to tackle it from within,” said a spokesperson for Saltash Community Fire Station earlier this morning.

“The incident is now scaled back to two appliances and crews are monitoring the incident.”

A message posted by the chair of Landulph Parish Council on the Saltash Fire Station Facebook page states that the family and their dogs are safe having been taken in by neighbours.
