South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray and Devon and Cornwall Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer are among those to have joined an outpouring of sympathy and support after the horrific terror attack in Nice, France, which claimed 84 lives last night.

Mrs Murray said her thoughts were with the families affected, and Mr Sawyer said he and his colleagues were also thinking of those in the French emergency and security services.

Many other people from the area, including Torpoint firefighters and Saltash police, have been commenting on social media using the hashtags #nice and #prayfornice.

A helpline has been set up for anybody concerned about friends or family in the area, on 00 33 4937 22 222, and people have also been advised to use Facebook check-in.
