AN RNLI team is launching a recruitment drive with a summer open day.

Looe Lifeboats Open Day on Sunday, August 27 is an opportunity for people to find out about joining the lifeboats crews or the support teams ashore.

Among the roles available for volunteers are:

Community safety advisors help raise awareness and spread safety messages to boat owners, cliff walkers, scuba divers, or anyone who goes on or near water.

Youth educators share safety messages with young people.

Fundraisers help to keep the service going.

Station guides take visitors on guided tours of the boathouse, explain the history of the station and show visitors the boats.
