Householders were this morning advised to keep their windows and doors closed as firefighters answered 999 reports of smoke pouring from the Connon Bridge refuse and recycling site before 7am. On arrival at the site, crews requested help from more appliances and specialist equipment to deal with the fire.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service have promised updates on the situation.The tip at Connon Bridge has been closed to the public.
