The victim in the Liskeard murder investigation has been named as 20-year-old Damien Bendelow who was local to the area.

Police were called at 00.44am on Sunday 26 January to the Cattle Market Car Park in Liskeard to reports of a serious assault.

Damien was located having sustained multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Derriford hospital by ambulance where he was sadly pronounced deceased. His next of kin have been informed and formal identification has taken place today.

Senior Investigating Officer, Inspector Steve Hambly said: “Our enquiries continue into the death of Damien Bendelow and one suspect remains in police custody.

“The family of Damien are at this time are not ready to issue a tribute, and have asked that they are given the space they need to come to terms with their loss.

“Officers will remain visible in the town centre area over the coming hours whilst further enquiries are carried out.”
