A fire officer called for help when he came across injured motorists in an accident on the A390 at West Taphouse shortly before 10pm yesterday.

One crew from Lostwithiel Community Fire Station were sent to the scene.

They made the scene safe and gave first aid to the occupants of the vehicle involved.

Police officers, paramedics and highways workers were also at the scene.
