A man was trapped in the wreckage of a crashed car after a collision on the A390 between Callington and St Ive yesterday lunchtime.

Firefighters from Callington, Liskeard and Bodmin used cutting equipment to free the injured motorist, who they described as ‘severely trapped’.

Paramedics took over his care, but the extent of injuries is not known.

The two-vehicle collision happened shortly before 1.30pm, and the road was blocked in both directions for accident investigation work for about 90 minutes.
