A Redruth man has been jailed after admitting causing the deaths of a man and woman while driving in St Agnes.
Ryan Morrish, 27, pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by careless driving and one count of perverting the course of justice at Truro Crown Court.
Morrish was sentenced today (May 18) to six years in prison.
Calvin Trevena and Ann Varran, both 51 and from Redruth, died following the collision that happened in the early hours of August 2 last year.
The couple were walking along the B3277 near Sevenmilestone, between Chiverton Cross roundabout and St Agnes, when they were struck by a white S4 Audi estate driven by Morrish.
Morrish fled the scene on foot after abandoning his badly damaged car in the Blackwater layby.
A second man, 27 and from Hayle, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released with no further action being taken against him.
