Fowey RNLI and a search and rescue helicopter went to the rescue of a man trapped at the base of cliffs at Chapel Point, Mevagissey, on Friday night.

The inshore lifeboat had to turn back because of weather conditions, and even the Trent class boat found it hard to battle south-easterlies gusting to 35 knots. The helicopter crew winched the man to safety while the lifeboat stood by at the scene.

He was checked over by paramedics and was uninjured.
