Residents have praised the quick actions of firefighters in preventing a shed fire from causing major damage to a home.
Torpoint Community Fire Station’s crew were scrambled as multiple 999 calls were made by the public.
A crew of six were mobilised on two vehicles together with a wholetime officer.
“On arrival the shed was well alight and had started to impact on the structure of the property,” said a spokesperson for the crew.
“Using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets the crews extinguished the fire, and bar a couple of windows managed to save the property from further damage.
“Thanks to the knowledge of local residents a fire hydrant was located very quickly and saved vital minutes in saving the property.”
After the incident on Friday, local members of the public went online to thank the fire crew. One resident said: "You did such an amazing job! It was pretty scary to watch how quickly the wind whipped the fire up. You got here so quickly, thank you for everything you do."
