Cornwall Services on the A30 at Victoria had to be evacuated for a while yesterday after fire broke out above a pizza oven.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call from a member of the public reporting smoke issuing at Cornwall Services.

Two pumps from Bodmin, one pump from St Dennis and a wholetime officer were immediately mobilised by Critical Control.

The officer in charge confirmed a small fire in an extractor unit above a pizza oven.

The building was evacuated. Fire crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to put out the fire. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

The fire was confirmed as accidental and confined.
