Lifeboat volunteers went to the rescue of a drifting training yacht with five people on board.

The sail training vessel had become tangled in buoy ropes about 10 miles off Trevose on Monday (May 9). The yacht was free from the ropes when the Padstow RNLI lifeboat arrived, but the engine coupling had broken and the yacht was beginning to drift.

The Padstow crew took the yacht under tow and returned the vessel and crew safely to Padstow harbour at 9pm.
