Three people were rescued near Lostwithiel last night after their car became stuck in floodwater.
Six fire engines were mobilised when the call came just before 6pm, and on their arrival, the first crew reported that three people were sitting on top of their vehicle, which was trapped in deep standing water.
Firefighters rescued the three people before winching the vehicle to a safe position.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people not to attempt to drive through flood water. A Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: ’This incident would have been avoidable if they hadn’t attempted to drive through this flood water.
’Please remember, TURN AROUND,DON’T DROWN.’
A Met Office weather warning for heavy rain is still in place for today until 6pm.
