FIREFIGHTERS from around South East Cornwall are tackling a large fire at a pub in Minions.
Residents of the village have been asked to remain inside and keep windows and doors closed as crews tackle the blaze at the Cheesewring Inn.
Some internal parts of the building have collapsed, says Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, and the road through Minions has been closed, with thick smoke at ground level around the area of the pub.
There are no reports of anyone being injured.
Reports of the fire first came in to Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service at just after 8am and two fire engines were sent from Liskeard.
A call for assistance was made at 8.30am and two further engines from Callington and Launceston were mobilised along with the incident command support vehicle from Launceston and operational support from St Austell, followed by further appliances from Looe and Bodmin.
Just after 9am the fire had spread to the upper floor and roof, and the ALP was requested.
There are no details on any residents who may have been in the building at the time the fire broke out.Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service Crews said just after midday that they were making good progress, with six major appliance and multiple specialist appliances remaining on scene, and that crew were currently redistributing resources on scene with a view to scaling back shortly.Station Manager Andy Sleeman said the building was "not in a great state", and added: "We expect to be here until at least the early part of the evening."We've got no understanding of what caused the fire at this point, but we will be doing a fire investigation."
