POLICE have recovered a body from a house in a rural part of South East Cornwall.

Officers have not confirmed yet if the deceased person is the 20-year-old man who was reported to be unaccounted for after the blaze in Deviock, near Seaton, on Sunday, as no formal ID has yet been made.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “After a dwelling fire on Sunday 29th August, police and fire services recovered a deceased person from the property. The family have been informed.

“Police enquiries remain ongoing and officers are in liaison with Her Majesty’s Coroner and providing support to the family.”

A cordon remains in place on the road leading to the property, said police, due to the safety of the property damaged in the fire.
