THE Club Championship took place over the weekend, with the preliminary first round played over the Kernow Course, followed on Sunday by the second on the Nicklaus Course.
More than 100 members from the men's, junior and Fossils sections entered the competition, which supported captain Andrew Corfield's drive for inclusivity across the membership.
The recent weather conditions had left both courses in excellent condition, but the set-up ensured a testing challenge for the competitors.
After Saturday's session, 61 players had made the cut to take on the Nicklaus Course the following morning.
The Nicklaus is always a stern test for the players and, although the weather held out, a strong wind added to the difficulty of the course and, coupled with the severe rough, most players found the second round to be a real battle.
The old adage of 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going' was proved to be correct once again as Cornish Champion Joe Yorke, playing off scratch, took the title with rounds of 70 and then an outstanding 73 on Sunday for a gross 143.
