Veryan, from Division Four of the J J Jones Builders Duchy League, caused a major upset as they overcame Premier opponents St Columb Major, 2-0, to reach the area final of the in the Cornwall Junior Cup.

Bad weather once again decimated the Duchy programme last Saturday, and the pitch had one dodgy area in the morning.

However, the hard work of the hosts' committee managed to get the fixture on.

Bobby Lee Johns opened the scoring inside the first minute following a Liam Cope pass.

And Veryan wrapped up the game early on the second period when Cope netted the second.
