The popular president of Torpoint Athletic, Neil Bartley, died suddenly at the age of 47.
Neil, a former communications manager for the Department of Work and Pensions, had returned to Torpoint and his beloved football club after working away for eight years.
His sudden death shook the Premier Division club and their trip to Camelford on Friday evening was postponed.
The league issued a statement on behalf of the board: 'The officers of the Peninsula League were deeply saddened to hear that Neil, club president and a staunch supporter of Torpoint Athletic, had suddenly passed away.
'Our thoughts go out to Neil's family and friends as well as Torpoint Athletic AFC.'
And a large crowd of 161 attended The Mill for the Torpoint Athletic game against Launceston after the club decided to postpone their first team and Duchy League games which allowed all the club's officials to attend to honour the passing of club president Neil Bartley.
Before the game a wreath was laid by Bartley's father Donald which was followed by a minute's silence.
