LOUIS Morris took time off from his coaching duties at Siblyback Lake, near Liskeard, to demonstrate his personal ability in the fourth round of the UK Windsurfing Association's open sea race series at Christchurch.

The event, sponsored by Stena Line Ferries, attracted 77 top class entries from all over the UK, including former national champions.

Morris, from Trethevy, competed in the 9.5-metre International Raceboard class and headed out on an overcast Saturday morning with light westerlies.

With gusty and shifty conditions, the 19-year-old made a great start in race one, but unpredictable wind shifts dropped him to fourth behind two top-ranking racers and another young newcomer.
