SALLY Lobb, the coaching assistant at Menheniot Tennis Club, near Liskeard, has been named the 'Cornwall Coach of the Year' for her support of tennis in the county and for the development of the Menheniot Club's programme.
Sally has assisted head coach Stewart Lees in establishing a successful Mini Tennis Programme for more than 30 local school children, and in running an adult coaching programme for both beginners and more experienced players.
This has led to membership numbers doubling, and the club is looking forward to building on this success in 2012.
Stewart admitted that without Sally's input this would just not have been possible, and he feels that this is a very well-deserved award which should put Menheniot firmly on the tennis map.
Sally is also working with other committee members, notably club secretary Jan Santillo, towards achieving Sport England's Clubmark status, a nationally-recognised accreditation for sports clubs with junior sections.
The club welcomes new players, and children aged five to ten are invited to join the Mini Tennis programme.
