Liskeard-Looe’s players will bring a long, but ultimately successful, rugby season to a close on Saturday when they take on Newquay in the Cornwall Clubs’ Cup final.

The Lions went through the season undefeated in both the Tribute Cornwall League, up to Christmas, and Cornwall One, from January to the end of April.

This week there have been two hard training sessions for the players ahead of the final, which is being staged at Bodmin RFC (3pm kick-off). Liskeard-Looe head coach Neil Bayliss gave the players two weeks off from training after the league fixtures were completed.

But a lot of the players did their own training sessions, either out running or in the gym, and full training restarted on May 15 with a visit to the gym at Lostwithiel, for a hard session, so they should be well prepared for tomorrow.

There are four games in total, for the plate, bowl and shield, with the first kicking off at 11am; a cost to spectators of £5, set by the CRFU, covers all four. Parking for the matches will be in the car park just off Cardinham roundabout, the one that is normally used for car boot sales.
