FOLLOWING a two-week break, Liskeard's under-14 girls returned with a 2-1 Kernow League victory over an in-form Truro Eagles side.
The hosts were able to welcome back midfielder Molly Walsh after a recent spell on the sidelines through injury, and she tested the visitors with some great runs down the wing.
After some heavy pressure, it was a set-piece that finally unlocked the Truro defence as Walsh tried her luck from a long-range free-kick, which somehow found its way through a crowded box and into the net.
However, their lead lasted just seven minutes as the Eagles restored parity with a free-kick of their own.
Liskeard decided to freshen things up a bit, with Claudia Taylor and Melissa Sheppard coming on. And Taylor made a huge impact as her long throw-in bounced up in the box and hit a Truro player on the hand.
Walsh stepped up to cooly put away the resulting penalty kick for her second of the game.
Truro threw everything they had at their hosts in the second period in an attempt to bag another equaliser, but the Liskeard defence held firm.
Liskeard coaches Ian Woodhouse and Adam Sibley were proud of how every girl battled so hard and how they all played their part in a superb team performance.
