Trialist striker Nathan Hall went close to opening the scoring when his thunderous 20-yard effort flew just over the Ashes' crossbar. Both teams found it tough going in the searing heat, with clear-cut openings at a premium. Just when it appeared that a goal-less draw was the most likely outcome, Saltash found the net when Jon Hoyles fired a low shot home from the angle of the six-yard box.
