LISKEARD-LOOE pulled off a narrow 22-21 Tribute Cornwall and Devon League victory over Falmouth at Lux Park in a match well refereed by Plymouth Society's Lance Doggart.

Following a fairly even opening ten minutes, Falmouth were the first to put points on the board through hooker Phil Wells, with Jake Sevior adding the conversion.

After both teams had a player shown a red card, centre Bas Hocking stormed through to score a good try, converted by James Noel-Johnson, to level the scores.

Another two players (one from each side) were then sin-binned following an off-the-ball incident as the teams went in tied at the break.

Falmouth established an early lead in the second period through Ben Woodman, with Sevior again added the extras, only for the Lions to narrow the gap through an Andy Sheer penalty kick on the hour-mark.

The hosts then took the lead for the first time as Hocking scored his second try of the afternoon, before Falmouth went 21-15 up thanks to a Gareth Lever try, converted by Sevior.

That was as good as it got for the visitors, though, as a try from Lewis Elliott and conversion from Baz Hocking secured victory for Liskeard-Looe.

Falmouth attacked down the left wing in injury time, but excellent defensive work by Kieran Underhill and Andy Sheer forced them into touch. Meanwhile, the Lions' second XV made the trip to St Just for a Cornwall Merit Table game and went down 48-24.
