Looe Golf Club Lady Vets Latest

WENDY Shore was the winner of the singles event at the annual Captain’s Trophy recently.

In blistering hot weather, a slightly smaller field played a 12-hole singles Stableford combining a three-player team competition off the blue tees.

In the team event, Jax Wailes, Wendy Shore and Jane Tate were the winners with 63 points, three clear of Debbie Harmer, Sandy King and Carol Stevens.

Jane Patchett, Sheila Tilbrook and Toni Stokes snuck third on countback ahead of Sue Hough, Pat Butler and Carole Day despite both teams ending on 56 points.

The Singles trophy saw Shore edge to victory on countback with 29 points from Jane Tate.

Nearest the pins, all in two, were Toni Stokes, Tate and Debbie Harmer on the first, sixth and 12th holes respectively.

Lady Vets captain Pat Butler thanked everyone for attending, including some non-playing members and also for all their support during the year.

Pat also thanked Margaret Bunton for checking the cards and Sheila Tilbrook and Jax Wailes for their support for stepping in to run the Lady Vets mornings on occasions through the year.

Jane Patchett, on behalf of the section, presented Pat with a garden voucher for all her hard work over recent months.
