THE 30th Fowey River Triathlon takes place on Sunday, September 19.
Organised by Fowey River Lions Club, the event was historically the first to be run in Cornwall and one of the first nationally.
The sprint course is considered challenging as it takes a route through what is arguably the most scenic and undulating triathlon route in Cornwall.
The 600m swim begins off Fowey Quay across to Polruan; there competitors collect their bikes for the 29k ride to Lostwithiel where, for the final leg, they change to run 12k back to Fowey and the finish on Town Quay.
The first of 100 competitors will begin the swim at 9.30am.
Volunteers
Over the years many local charities have been supported by this event – this year’s benefiting charity is Cornwall Blood Bikes. Volunteers providing this vital service by couriering blood and medical supplies between hospitals out of hours.
It takes a considerable number of people to marshal and run the triathlon and volunteers would be most welcome; please use the contacts below.
