Torpoint Athletic and Millbrook are set to play their first league derby for 12 years at The Mill on Boxing Day (11 am kick-off).

The Rame Peninsula clubs have not met since the last season of the old South Western League in 2006-07.

Ever since Millbrook clinched promotion to the SWPL premier division last May, there has been a keen anticipation for this encounter.

Millbrook manager Mackenzie Brown told the Cornish Times: ‘At any level of football the derby games are the ones that stand out as the biggest games of the season.

‘It is a game we are all looking forward to, especially as it’s been a long time since this fixture has been played at SWPL level and there are so many familiar faces involved between the clubs.

‘I hope the local community come out and support the game as the Boxing Day fixture is always a great occasion and this will certainly be no different.’

Results will be posted on the Cornish Times’ Twitter and Facebook accounts on Boxing Day.
