Promoted Plymouth Argyle can win the Sky Bet League Two championship by winning at Grimsby Town tomorrow, writes Ross Reid.
Argyle boss Derek Adams heaped credit on his squad following the Greens’ 2-1 turnaround home win over Crewe, while Devon rivals Exeter City were scoring an impressive 3-1 victory at faltering former leaders Doncaster Rovers.
Adams said: ‘It shows you how well the players have performed all season. To say that we are now top of the table and go into the final game of the season with it in our own hands to win the title is fantastic, not just for us as a team but also for the city.’
Adams has always emphasised the importance of Argyle’s success to the wider community of Plymouth.
Momentum against Crewe was with the Pilgrims, roared on by 13,000 passionate home supporters.
Special mention must go to the Devonport End, who buoyed their team with continuous vocal support throughout despite their team performing way below their championship standard in the first half.
Derek Adams second half substitutions made all the difference. Have no doubt the 50th minute introduction of player of the year Sonny Bradley galvanised the Greens from back to front.
There is only one Sonny Bradley and he will be key to Argyle’s continued success in League One.
C’mon you Greens!
