Second-placed Plymouth Argyle visit Crawley tomorrow in search of a record breaking 13th away league win, writes Ross Reid.
Promotion-chasing Pilgrims boss Derek Adams was back to his upbeat best as the Greens prepare to tackle their final six Sky Bet League Two games.
Adams’ – read Argyle’s – goal remains the same: ‘We know how many points we need to achieve automatic promotion and aim to get them as soon as we possibly can.
‘It’s a difficult league where anyone can beat anyone and we have won 23 from 40 so we want to continue that form at Crawley.
’We have got to win on Saturday to break a club record of away wins in the league.’
Argyle’s 1-0 win at leaders Doncaster Rovers was their 12th away league win of the term. With another four away days in their final six games Argyle could smash the record they equalled last season under Adams.
It is a proud Pilgrims league record only previously achieved twice before, in seasons 1929-30 and 2001-02.
As Argyle chase a new record, towering central defender Sonny Bradley was full of optimism as he returns to a club where he was once first team skipper.
Now Argyle’s goal scoring defender, he said: ‘We are in an unbelievable position, 10 points clear of fourth, we have trained well this week and we now go to Crawley looking to get a result.
‘Looking at the position we are in we can only be positive; it would be silly to be anything else.
‘Nothing has changed since the start of the season and that is massively important and that has come from the manager.
‘Our ambition at the start of the season was to win the league title and we still have those ambitions. ‘We want to win as many games as we can so if we keep that attitude and determination then come the end of the season we should find ourselves in an automatic promotion place.’
