James Lorenz scored a second successive hat-trick as Liskeard Athletic beat Wendron United 5-1 in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League division one west at Lux Park on Saturday.

Lorenz, who has attracted interest from several premier division clubs, struck all three of his goals in the second half after skipper Jack Podmore had fired the Blues into a 12th minute lead with a screamer from 20 yards.

Lorenz made it 2-0 early in the second half and although Wendron pulled a goal back through Cameron Wheat and threatened to equalize in a 15-minute spell, Liskeard ran out comfortable winners.

New signing Ben Waters marked his debut by making it 3-1 in the 75th minute and Lorenz struck twice in the last eight minutes to complete the scoring.

Lorenz, who scored 36 league and cup goals last season, hit a hat-trick last week in Liskeard’s opening day 4-1 win at Bere Alston.
