Bodmin Town have set up a top of the table classic at Tavistock on Wednesday evening following a 5-1 victory at Cullompton tonight.

Darren Gilbert’s reigning Carlsberg South West Peninsula League champions moved above Saltash United into second place, three points behind leaders Tavistock.

Tavistock face Bodmin at Langsford Park on Wednesday where anything but a defeat would make the Devon side almost certain to clinch the premier division title.

The top three have all have two games left. Tavistock have 89 points and a goal difference of +95. Bodmin have 86 points (goal difference +79). Saltash have 84 points (goal difference +81).

But Saltash are not out of it yet by any means. Tomorrow (Tuesday) they are at home to Ivybridge Town and victory would add to the pressure on Tavistock and Bodmin 24 hours later.

To complete the fixtures, on Friday, Tavistock are away to Plymouth Parkway, while Bodmin are at home to Witheridge.

And on Saturday, Saltash are home to Falmouth Town.

Tonight, Bodmin were 1-0 down early on at Cullompton but roared back with goals from Adam Kelly (2), Dan Sullivan, Ben Seymour and Dan Jennings.

Without injured top scorer Adam Carter, they could even afford to miss a penalty when Kelly spurned the chance to complete his hat-trick.
