THE first qualifying competition of the year – the January Stableford – was finally held at Looe Golf Club last Sunday.

The weather was dry, but scoring proved difficult for most this early in the year. Two players managed to 'beat' the course, with youngster Kieran Faulkner beating the not-so-young John Nicholls with 38 points on count-back.
