League officials ratified the South East Cornwall club’s elevation this week, marking another significant milestone in a remarkable period of progress on and off the field.
The decision represents a major achievement for a club whose rise in recent years has been nothing short of impressive.
While the first XI will be testing themselves at a new level, the club’s second XI also enjoyed promotion last season, moving into Division Five East, while the newly-formed third XI made a solid start to life in Division Seven East.
Away from the senior men’s teams, Saltash have also established a women’s side and continued to develop a thriving youth section, underlining the ambition to build a club with a strong future as well as a successful present.
Chairman Shayn Rencher said: “This is a fantastic moment for everyone involved with the club. Promotion into Division Two East for the first time is a huge achievement and reflects the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm that has gone into building the club.
“We are not just looking at results on a Saturday. We are growing across all areas, from our junior section through to the women's team, and that is what makes this particularly exciting.”
First XI captain Justin Hemmings added: “It’s a brilliant achievement for the players and everyone who has contributed to the first XI over the years. We have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and there is a real sense of pride in knowing we will be playing at a level the club has never reached before.
“We know there will be challenges ahead, but we are looking forward to testing ourselves, continuing to improve and making sure we do the club proud.”
