LISKEARD Tigers bounced back from their single-goal defeat at the hands of St Agnes by seeing off Storm's second string, 34-28, at Lux Park in Division Two of the Cornwall Netball League.
The Redruth-based visitors started strongly, going three goals in front early on, but were pegged back to 9-7 at the end of the quarter.
It was a different story in the second period
as some fine long-range shooting from Sophie Hocking and good defence by Vicki Hastings put the Tigers in front.
In the third stanza, Amie Hoskin found her range against the tall defence, working the ball around the circle through Emma Dalton and Jo Glossop to keep possession and ensure every chance at goal.
Despite a change to the Storm attack, they couldn't match the Liskeard defence as interceptions were picked off by both Holly Lemon and Hastings.
Julia Eldridge replaced Dalton at centre for the final quarter and, going in with a seven-goal cushion, the hosts were confident of victory.
Although Storm rallied, the Tigers had done enough and limited Storm to just one losing bonus point.
Said Liskeard coach Rudi Britz: 'I am very happy with the win. We started playing the game as we should be playing it at last.
'There were lots of silly mistakes, especially in the first quarter, but it came together in the second and Storm found it difficult to keep the pace.
'The set-plays are beginning to become a second nature now, and the girls know where the ball is
going to be passed next, which is important.
'When it works, it's a pleasure to watch.'
