Caradon Hockey Club have been splashing the cash after an extraordinary year of fundraising.

The club held a special presentation evening at Liskeard Public Hall after their Saturday matches to celebrate their efforts with their 10-4-10 campaign, with cheques for £725 given to each of their chosen charities.

The club spent most of 2018 organising and taking part in 10 exciting and diverse events, raising money for 10 charities to commemorate and celebrate their 10th anniversary.

Club members started the series with a launch night quiz followed by a bingo night in Dobwalls, Christmas fancy dress hockey match, a concert put on by Caradon player Charlie Harris, a pub quiz in St Neot and the Big Breakfast morning in Menheniot.

Into the summer months, 19 Caradon members ran in the Plymouth Half Marathon while family and friends joined in walking the 17 miles from the former Essanians pitch in Saltash to Caradon’s home pitch in Liskeard.

The final two events were an incredibly successful Hockey World Cup Festival at Lux Park, as part of the build up to the Hockey World Cup which took place in London in July, and the draw for the 10-4-10 Raffle.

The presentation evening was attended by Liskeard Mayor Christina Whitty, representatives from some of the charities and members of Caradon Hockey Club and committee.

Social secretary Marcia Burgess gave a speech about 10-4-10 followed by thank you’s and the presentation.

Beneficiaries from Caradon’s 10-4-10 were: Cornwall Blood Bikes, RNLI, Macmillan Nurses, Ellie’s Haven, Teenage Cancer Trust, British Heart Foundation, Children’s Hospice South West, Cornwall Air Ambulance, CHICKS and SportsAble.
