CALLINGTON secured their place in the final of this season's Hawkey Cup competition with a fine victory over Werrington on Wednesday evening.
Following two postponements, this semi-final was reduced by mutual consent to 15 overs-a-side, due to the threat of more bad weather.
A minute's silence was observed by both teams before the game in memory of former Callington player and chairman Peter Moores, who died suddenly the previous week.
The toss was won by Werrington skipper Ben Smeeth, and he decided to bat first.
The captain opened with his brother, Alex, but was soon dismissed by a return catch from Aidan Libby. Alex Smeeth and Adam Hodgson added 64 and looked to drive Werrington toward a high score.
However, Jim Shorten removed both of them in four balls for 45 and 24 respectively.
