With a possible play off position at stake Saltash United looked the favourites in this their final DJM Astor league game of the season. Activate however were keen to deny Ashes the points and the ensuing match produced some good end to end football on a rather hard pitch. The first half ended even with neither side being able to find the net, Activate having perhaps the better share of the chances.

Eight minutes into the second half Ashes broke the deadlock when David Wright latched onto a well weighted ball from winger Martin Burt and lifted the ball over the advancing keeper. Their second followed two minutes later when Wright again found the net following some good midfield play. Activiate pulled one back on 28 minutes and pressed hard for the equaliser but Ashes, particularly keeper Tony Jane, held firm and claimed the valuable three points. A satisfying end to a somewhat disappointing year giving Manager Graham Clatworthy some hope for next season.
