Activities and walks showcasing Tamar Valley wildlife will take place this weekend (September 7 and 8).
Between 2 and 5pm on Saturday visitors to the centre at Drakewalls can learn how to investigate what wildlife may be sharing your garden. Drop-in activities will include bird box building, seed-bomb making, wildlife-friendly habitat creation and making plant prints.
Visitors can take part in mini-orienteering around the Tamar Valley Centre site, collecting stamps along the way. A programme of walks and talks will also take place, along with information stands from local organisations, helping you care for the wildlife that visits your garden.
On Saturday evening, between 7 and 9pm, join Gunnislake Community Matters for a local Bat Walk (booking essential).
A choice of guided walks will be available on Sunday between 10am and 2pm. Immerse yourself in meditative Forest Bathing, on a short walk led by trained leader Lesley Strong. Alternatively, discover the medicinal properties of hedgerow plants with botanist Martin Summers. For early-birds, a birdwatching walk will take place at Cargreen from 7-9am (booking essential).
An Art Exhibition of entries to the wildlife-themed art competition will be on show throughout the weekend. Entry is free to the Wildlife Weekend, but a small charge may apply to some activities (e.g. bird boxes). Most are drop-in activities but some will require advance booking (eg walks).
A full programme of activities, with details of times and how to book is available at www.tamarvalley.org.uk.
