Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys is top of the charts when it comes to making people feel happy in the South West, according to research released by well-being start-up FeedMyHappy.
More than two fifths (42%) feel happiest listening to that song.
This is closely followed by Dancing Queen by Abba (37%) and Always Look on The Bright Side of Life by Monty Python at 30%.
The research shows that music, especially songs that are part of our popular culture, has a powerful influence on our happiness. Nationally, Dancing Queen topped the happiest song chart at 38%.
Dancing Queen was also the most popular song amongst women with almost half (43%) saying it made them feel happiest.
For men, however, Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life by Monty Python hit the spot at 35% and 34% respectively. Happy by Pharrell Williams is the song that makes the younger generation happiest (31%), closely followed by Shake it Off by Taylor Swift.
