Residents of a council estate are calling for modernisation in an attempt to improve its community spirit. Hillsview residents in Polperro claim Cornwall Council has neglected them and they are now hoping to work with the council to improve their estate. Mother-of-two Anna Friend has lived on the estate for four years.
'I think overall it is really rundown and unkempt,' she said.
'I think the council has given up on Polperro, but it could be a really nice area.
'We should have new windows – I shouldn't be scraping black mould off of my windows.'
The area's Cornwall councillor, Edwina Hannaford, said: 'There is work to be done.
'I think Polperro has been neglected and I have noticed a marked difference between Looe and Polperro, that I do want to address. I want to know why Polperro is a lower priority.'
