A St John ambulance cadet leader from a south east Cornwall division has been arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a child. Police confirmed that a 28-year-old man, who lives in the Efford area of Plymouth, was arrested under section 16 of the sexual offences act 2003 on suspicion of abuse of position of trust: sexual activity with a child.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said: 'We are aware of the arrest of a member in south east Cornwall.
'We can confirm that he has been suspended as a volunteer member of St John Ambulance and has had no access to the organisation or its membership activities since.'
The man has been released on bail until December 1.
