A School in South East Cornwall has topped the county's league table of SATS results.
St Germans School earned the top ranking with an average points score of 31 – the average across the country is 27.5 and for Cornwall 27.1. It also achieved 100 per cent in the key level 4 maths and English tests, gaining a place among the top 289 primary schools in the country.
Paul Smith, chair of the governors at St Germans, said he and his colleagues were 'immensely proud' that following the recent outstanding Ofsted inspection the school continues to go from strength to strength, coming top of the county primary league tables.
'This proud achievement is due to the hard work, attitude and dedication of our staff, our children, our community and the leadership provided by our headteacher, Mrs Carol McGlinchey,' said Mr Smith.
Staff at many local schools joined a union-led boycott of the 2010 SATS, which Mick Brookes, head of the National Association of Head Teachers, described as a 'flawed testing regime'.
Achieved
Pupils from St Neot, Menheniot and Sir Robert Geffery's VA primary schools all achieved points scores in excess of 29.
