AN appeal has gone out to help continue the tradition of Christmas lights in Kingsand and Cawsand.
Those involved with the lights for the past 11 years say, after careful consideration, they have decided to step down.
‘We feel we have done our bit for the community by giving hundreds of hours of time to ensure the lights are financed, maintained and erected,’ a spokesperson said.
‘Health and Safety legislation has increased considerably, meaning that the engagement of professional advice and labour will probably be required in future to ensure compliance.’
A group or organisation ‘with more resources’ is needed to take over, say the group. An alternative option would be for individual businesses or householders to decorate their own properties, they add.
