Join members of the Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project team later this month, for a late afternoon walk and evening talk in the Tamar Valley to hear the latest findings on the research being carried out into these nocturnal creatures.

Domnhall Finch will talk about landscape connectivity and discuss how predictive modelling can be used to look at the potential impacts of barriers and loss of hedges on the movement of bats. This work includes research carried out with volunteers in the Tamar Valley.

Anna David will then provide an update from the Bat Project on their work in the Tamar Valley.

The talk will take place on October 23, 7.30pm – 9pm (tea/coffee at 7pm) at the Tamar Valley Centre, Drakewalls.

A walk along the new Bat Trail will take place prior to the talk, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, which will show why hedges are so important for the greater horseshoe bats that live in this area. A soup & bread supper will be served at 6.30pm for those attending both the walk and talk.

There is no charge for either event, but booking is essential as places are limited. Please call the Tamar Valley AONB team on 01822 835030 or email [email protected]
