Hundreds of people came out to see a very unusual train coming down the tracks in South East Cornwall on Sunday – and were rewarded with the sight of several firsts on the Looe Valley branch line.

The ‘Looe Brush’, with its two powerful Class 47 engines and eight carriages packed with passengers, was running from Bristol to Looe on a special organised for the Branch Line Society.

More than one ’first’ was achieved during the trip - including the train going right into the Tarmac Lafarge depot at Moorswater.

A full report and wonderful photos taken by a local expert will be in this week’s Cornish Times, out on Friday.
