LISKEARD could soon be well and truly on the map if an invitation to be part of a new television series to be shown on Channel 4 is taken up.
The town has been chosen by Optomen Films as one of the three towns they would like to include in programmes they will be making about the new Mary Portas bid successes.
Speaking on behalf of the town team which put forward the Portas Bid, Allison Livingstone said: 'We're delighted at the interest in our town. We are currently organising a meeting with Optomen and Channel 4 to hear more about what being one of those towns actually entails.
'Our aim has always been to implement our winning application and we won't allow anything to take priority over that. But if we believe filming will enhance and increase the impact of that process, of course we'd want to be part of what promises to be an exciting and unique opportunity.'
The town team is hoping for a good attendance from all parts of the Liskeard community at an extraordinary meeting of the Town Forum, organised by the Town Council, which takes place in the Public Hall at 7pm tonight. The town team will explain the contents of the successful Mary Portas Bid and what it could mean to Liskeard.
Chairman Sally Hawken said: 'We welcome everyone to this meeting when we can discuss how we can take forward our bid application. We all play a part as investors in our community.'
