TRANSPORT services in Cornwall have begun getting ’back to normal’ this week but with changes that take account of social distancing.
Tolls have resumed on the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry, but the introduction of contactless payments due to come in today has been delayed, sad Tamar Crossings.
Other measures have been introduced to minimise the risk to staff and passengers: those wishing to pay by cash and using a higher vehicle will be able to use a ’cup and stick’ payment method, and other drivers can use a letterbox in the side of the booth.
There is no contactless option at present on the ferry, but a tolling station has been set up near the entrance to the ferry, so as to avoid collecion onboard, where it is more cramped.
Meanwhile, ticketing and enforcement was reintroduced in Cornwall Council run car parks on Monday, but parking will still be free for NHS and health and social care staff and critical care volunteers.
Transport for Cornwall has reverted back to its pre-Covid-19 bus timetable. The company is asking people to be considerate and has stressed that at present the bus service is intended for key workers and other passengers who have no alternative means of travel.
