Community Treasure Chest CIC is launching its annual Treasure's Toy Drive, appealing for referral partners to help identify families struggling financially and reach more children across the local community.
The organisation, which has been an official distributor for Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas appeal for the past three years, has applied to take part again this year to increase the support available.
The appeal provides new and excellent-condition toys and gifts, rather than cash payments, with parents given the opportunity to visit a Christmas pop-up shop and choose presents suited to their children.
Last Christmas, Community Treasure Chest supported more than 85 families, distributing over 2,500 toys to children across the area.
The team hopes to build on that success this year and reach even more households facing hardship during the festive season.
Organisations wishing to become referral partners should register their interest by providing a contact name, email address and telephone number.
Once registered, partners will receive referral forms to complete for each family requiring support. Appointments for toy collections will then be arranged directly with families or their organisation's nominated contact.
Referrals open on Thursday, November 5, and close at 4pm on Thursday, December 10.
The toy pop-up shop will open by appointment on December 21, 22, 23 and 24, allowing parents to select gifts in a private and welcoming environment.
Valerie, Emma and Paula, from Community Treasure Chest CIC, said the support of local organisations was vital to ensuring the appeal reached those who needed it most.
They are encouraging potential partners to share the campaign through school newsletters, parent communications, community networks and workplace bulletins.
