EVENTS at this year's Callington Honey Fair will last all day. While the event on Wednesday, October 4, will start with the main part of the fair and the honey competitions, entertainment will run until 9pm. This is the 28th year since the fair was re- established by John Trevithick in 1978. As the fair proved a huge success and was too much work to take on for one man, the town's Lions Club took over and the event has evolved so much that two of the town's car parks and New Road are used. More than 100 trade and charity stalls lined the street last year and the fair has become one of the biggest in the county. This year's primary school art competition will be based around the 200th anniversary of Brunel. More than 900 entries were received last tear and will be on display in the town hall's council chambers on Honey Fair day. The hall will also be the venue for the honey cookery competitions and musical entertainment from Callington Community College. Honey cream teas provided by the Lions Club Ladies and an exhibition from the Liskeard Model Society will also be found in the hall. Refreshments will also be available from St Mary's Church and the Methodist Chapel. To finish the day Callington Town Band will play in the hall from 7-8pm and then the church bells will ring for an hour.
