COUNCILLOR Martin Gee who presided at the Council's Development committee meeting last week said that no further information had been received about the station site, although others had shown an interest in the project. The celebration in 2006 of the anniversary of Brunel's birth is still on going and no further news has been received. He said there are still plans to light up the Royal Albert Bridge for the occasion but no further progress from the railway authorities. He said that Plymouth City Council were planning to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Royal Albert Bridge in 2009, so did not seem to want to celebrate the 2006 milestone. Councillor Stephen Tait said: 'Get Plymouth City Council in tune with the rest of the West Country, and we can also celebrate the bridge's 150th anniversary as well as Brunel's birth, having two celebrations. One in 2006 and the other 2009.' Councillor Gee also said that the issue of brown direction signs around the town was receiving attention.
